Thank you for joining the ReFashioned Art LIVE Happy Hour Art Tour IX at my home! This week's art tour was extra special because I partnered with a Phoenix based Nigerian designer LagosPHX for the second FASHION X ART AUCTION COLLAB. This week’s LIVE focused on the fashion and our purpose in doing this- to raise awareness and support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
If you can’t catch us LIVE on Instagram @iamlauramadden, please check out my YouTube channel and my Instagram for the replays.
As promised, I showed up with cocktail in hand, wearing a cocktail dress- this week a custom garment designed by LagosPHX. This dress is made of Ankara fabric with African print, and is 100% cotton. This dress is simply fabulous and definitely gave me one of those transformative fashion moments. The colors, the feel, and the passion that went into the making of this dress gave me life! Good fashion just feels good!
LagosPHX is auctioning off 6 one-of-a-kind garments, and donating 100% to Reform Alliance. The auction runs for 72 hours, concluding tomorrow, Monday, 6/29/20, 5pm PST. Also, the dress worn in this video is one of the six dresses available for purchase. (Current bid $75)
If you are not familiar with LagosPHX, the man behind this brand is Emeka Njoku, also of Lagos Couture, AfroMusicFest Concert Tour, Phoenix Shrine, PHX Models, and African Fashion Week PHX. I hope you will check him out! He is dedicated to planning top quality events and bringing the best of African culture to Phoenix.
The mission statement of his brand Lagos Couture is ‘Fashion transcends cultural barriers.’ Our worlds needs this more than ever right now and we need more people like Emeka bringing fashion to our community! All of the garments shown were handmade by Scottsdale based tailor Crystal Douglas.
I hope you will join me in supporting a local, independent and black owned business. Your support of black owned businesses is another vital way to show your support for the black lives matter movement.
Ten pieces of ReFashioned Art are currently being auctioned off as well. I will match & donate 100% of the sale of each piece. Four have sold, with money donated to Black Girls Code, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and The Garment League.
I am using my art as a means to not only raise money for the movement but to raise greater awareness of the importance of racial equality and to bring people together the best I can.
I will match and donate 100% of the sale of each piece, with proceeds going to a racial equality foundation or fund of the buyer's choice.
