Where I’ve been and where I’m going << Part 2 >>

Writer: Laura MaddenLaura Madden

Resolutions. It’s Personal.

Thanks for coming back for part 2! This is where I talk about my outlook for 2019 and the woman I want to become in this year ahead. One thing I know for sure is that I plan to create more content for this platform. But more than ever, I intend to be impeccable with delivering quality content over quantity, and I want to deliver content that is of value to you.

So if you wouldn’t mind, I would love your help! Let me know what you want to see more of from me? How can I improve this blog and add offerings that will bring great value to your life. What would help you most right now?

I am also super excited to share that I’ll be offering a free digital giveaway when you sign up to join my email list. I'm looking for suggestions- What are you most interested in receiving from me?

1/ ebook on my personal journey & my relationship to fashion
2/ sustainable shopping & style guide
3/ how to identify your style

Please let me know what would be most exciting and useful to you? What should I create for you next? I would love to hear from you!

Resolutions:

  • To take more risks. Talk to more people that I might be afraid to talk to. I know, at 41 years old this still happens, but I don’t think that will ever go away, now will it!?

  • Have more fun with my clothing. I’ve already been doing this, but I want to have even more fun, be even more adventurous, more self expressed. Sometimes I like to take it a bit over the top, and the time is now- to just play, everyday. So, more risks with fashion too!

  • Ask more questions. Especially with the content I’m creating. So often I can get stuck on autopilot mode, doing what I ‘think’ is working, but the numbers aren’t everything. What I really care about is providing value and being of service. So I plan to ask more questions about what you, my readers, want- not just what I think people want.

  • My intentions for the blog are shifting. I am using this more as my portfolio or like a resume to showcase my work and my style. In the past, I thought the only way or purpose for having a blog was to build a business and to make it monetizable. Yes, I plan to make money, but that is not my motivation behind the content I am creating. It is self-expression and being of service first and foremost. (more on this in my next blog post- stay tuned for it!)

  • Take breaks and rest. I think I say this every year, but at 41 years old, there’s no more screwing around. I do struggle with chronic fatigue issues, so I can go from feeling energetic and unstoppable to hardly moving off the couch. I can’t do it anymore. It is a lesson (also) in setting boundaries, speaking up for myself, and doing what is best for me, even if it’s not best for others.

  • More art! I When I moved into my new home, I started creating art like crazy. But I had a real urgency. I wanted to get my house decorated as quickly as possible, and I knew exactly what I wanted. What do you when you can’t find what you’re looking for? You make it yourself. Lesson- creating art feeds my soul. Today, my walls are filled, so I’ve lost that drive to keep creating. But the urge is still there. I was born to create.

  • Schedule more breaks, fun time, silence, unplugged time and space.

  • This goes without saying, but I’m quite fanatical about sustainable living. This year is no different, except that I plan to take it to another level. My goal is to move even closer to zero waste living, and to eliminate as much single-use plastic as possible. (Going for 90%).

  • Talk more about my values and be more open about what is important to me. Publicize my devotion to secondhand fashion (many many more blog posts to come on this one). For me, this always comes with that little fear monger inside my head that this can be polarizing. But I can’t concern myself with that anymore. I am not exactly doing this to make friends and I’ve most definitely dropped out of the popularity contest decades ago. I am here to create real change in the World and that is exactly what I intend to do.

  • More videos! More talking. I’m not sure if people like to hear me as much as I like to hear myself, but that’s ok. I’ll get over it. Again, this goes along with my Fashion one above- getting on camera is about being more self-expressed for me. It’s having fun! It’s being creative, playing. Creativity gets you out of your head and into your body. So there- I am officially considering it a form of stress relief which I plan to take part in. Stand by….Action!

It means the world that you are here reading this post and sharing in my experience of living a sustainable and stylish life. Also, please don’t hesitate to drop me a line in case there is anything you’d like to see more of from me or something that I’m not currently offering.

This is going to be an exciting year ahead- for all of us. I’m expecting more learning, more lessons, more growth, as I try new things and stretch myself further.

Please share, what are you most excited about in the year ahead? How do you plan to stretch yourself and grow?
